Preparing For Your Session

Our Style

Our style is defined by its cinematic look, our use of warm vibrant colors ,and the organic expressions we bring out of our clients! Everyone on our team brings years of experience and formal training to create truly one of a kind artwork.

Our objective and passion is to capture sincere moments that will commemorate you and your loved ones season to season.

During your session, we will incorporate a little bit of everything. We encourage movement and interaction for a lively and synergetic atmosphere to capture all those natural candid moments.

OUR PROCESS

We offer a complete portrait photography experience - from initial consultation to final image delivery.

Set-Up A Consult

We start with booking you in for a free phone or video consult. These are typically 10-15 minutes long and are our opportunity to get to know you a little better before your session! Contact us here to book your initial consult!

Book Your Session

Once you are ready to book in your photo session let us know! We typically book 2-3 weeks out for our sessions but try to remain as flexible as possible! We generally like to book these as close to sunrise or sunset as possible for optimal light!

Pre-Session Wardrobe Tips

Fashion has to reflect who you are, what you feel at that moment, where you’re going.    – Pharrell Williams

Pick a colour combination for your family to work with and coordinate. We do not recommend matching one single colour or having each family member wearing completely different patterns and colours. Coordination is key!

While the idea of seasonal outfits may be appealing (for example, Christmas or Halloween themed), our aim is to produce photos that you can display in your home year round! If you are interested in booking a session that is themed, please reach out to us to inquire about specialty sessions!

We recommend earth tones, textures, and solid colours. This will ensure a timeless and classic look and will guarantee that your outfits are still in style years from now.

Fitted clothing is preferred over baggy or loose fitting frocks (for example, baggy jeans, sweatpants or loose fitting shirts and blouses). Aim for clothing that is slightly tighter than what you would normally wear. We recommend layers to provide visual interest and movement, such as a dress with a shawl or cardigan.Simplicity is always best, so when in doubt keep in mind that “less is more.”

Avoid patterns and stripes.

For children, comfortable clothing that has been “broken in” for a few days prior to your session is recommended. For children this ensures they are used to the feeling of wearing their outfit, and makes for a much more enjoyable photo session.

The Basics

Dress for full length, make sure to Include shoes and socks in your wardrobe consideration. Shoe styles should be simple and not distracting. If you normally wear glasses, you wear them for your session!

Get Inspired

Get Inspired for what you want to wear! If you haven’t already, check out some of our portfolio for wardrobe inspiration, or take to Instagram, Pinterest or Google!

Shop Savvy

Shopping at off-price retailers such as Winner’s, Marshall’s, Thrift Stores and even Facebook Marketplace can lead to great deals on gently used clothing.

Choose Your Colors

Neutral tones such as beige, white, black, tan and grey often photograph the best. We are also always a big fan of earthy tones that compliment your skin tones and don’t conflict with common background elements.

Z

Accesorize

Don’t forget! Simple accessories that go with everything such as belts, scarves or hats if those are part of your regular clothing choices. These items can help break-up solid colors being worn and add another layer of interest to your portrait session.

Dress To Impress

It’s important to wear clothes that fit well and have good lines so they hang nicely in photo’s. Make sure that you check for stains or wrinkles before coming out to take pictures as it may not be possible to go home and change first if time is a restriction.
